Time to think…about your defining characteristics

“People aren’t in awe of your sharp mind? So be it. But you have many other qualities you can’t claim to have been deprived of at birth. Display then those qualities in your own power: honesty, dignity, endurance, chastity, contentment, frugality, kindness, freedom, persistence, avoiding gossip, and magnanimity.” Marcus Aurelius, Meditations.

“Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them”. Twelfth Night, Shakespeare. Whatever your standing or situation in life, you still have choices. You can choose to use those qualities that define your character. We all have them – to a certain degree, more or less. How about putting the good, virtuous ones into action and in so doing strengthen the habit? What have you got to lose? Certainly not your power to choose your attitude and how you intend to behave.
