“Why then are we offended? Why do we complain? This is what we’re here for.” Seneca, On Providence

Whenever we feel like we’re trapped in a vice and being squeezed, it’s easy for us to question what life is all about. “Why me?” might be the question we ask ourselves.

Take a ‘psychological step’ back and look again at the situation: are we the only ones to be suffering right now? Has anyone else been in this situation before? Did our parents experience similar hardships that made them question their own existence and sense of competence? We are not alone. No-one ever said life would be easy, but we needn’t make it harder by allowing our emotions to get the better of ourselves.
