“Your principles can’t be extinguished unless you snuff out the thoughts that feed them, for it’s continually in your power to reignite new ones…It’s possible to start living again! See things anew as you once did – that is how to restart life!”
Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Sometime in mid-January is supposedly the most depressing day of the year, by when many people are skint from Christmas, and the cold, wet weather brings them nothing but discomfort. Perhaps the spark from starting another New Year has also ebbed away and achieving those much-vaunted resolutions seems to be a vague and distant dream…a good idea at the time.

What’s so special about New Year that makes setting and keeping change resolutions an all-or-nothing commitment? If your intended outcome is so inspirational, surely it’ll be powerful enough to make you want to start each day with renewed vigour, regardless of whether or not you have already ‘fallen off the wagon’ along the way. Every day marks the start of a new year and a new you – even a hot, sticky day in mid-summer. It’s your choice.
