“Keep constant guard over your perceptions, for it is no small thing you are protecting, but your respect, trustworthiness and steadiness, peace of mind, freedom from pain and fear, in a word your freedom. For what would you sell these things?”
Epictetus, Discourses.

What happens when we don’t take the time to stop and think about what it is in life that we really want (and what we don’t want)? We can find ourselves falling victim to the instant demands of the here-and-now, always feeling on the back foot and never in control of our choices.

Peace of mind comes when we are content with the decisions we make. What is important to you? When do you reflect on situations that have happened and consider what your motives and needs were? When do you prepare yourself for things yet to come, allowing yourself to be confident that you know ‘what you’re all about’?
