Time to think…about needs and gratitude

“Nothing can satisfy greed, but even a small measure satisfies nature. So it is that the poverty of an exile brings no misfortune, for no place of exile is so barren as not to produce ample support for a person.” Seneca, On Consolation to Helvia.

How comfortable we become as we progress – but only when we take a moment to stop and look back at where we’ve come from do we realise our present comfort. Ever wonder how we survived or coped back then? And yet we yearn for even more – more money, more security, more bling, more ‘stuff’. Right now never seems to be enough. Try taking a step back – literally – and remove something that you consider today to be essential. If you continue to exist without hardship, then be grateful for the luxury you have been living all this time.
