“But what does Socrates say? ‘Just as one person delights in improving his farm, and another his horse, so I delight in attending to my own improvement day by day.'”  Epictetus, Discourses.

What are your own needs? How regularly are you attending to them? Everything you do – all the outcomes you wish to see come to fruition – rely on you and your well-being, both physical as well as psychological.

Psychological well-being (PWB) is influenced by a number of factors: self-acceptance, a sense of mastery in what you do, positive relationships with others, personal growth, a sense of purpose in life and a degree of autonomy in going about it all. Invest in yourself every day. Don’t worry about feeling selfish: it’s necessary. Indulge yourself for a while. Besides, if you don’t invest in you, who will?
