“Stop wandering about! You aren’t likely to read your own notebooks, or ancient histories, or the anthologies you’ve collected to enjoy in your old age. Get busy with life’s purpose, toss aside empty hopes, get active in your own rescue – if you care for yourself at all – and do it while you can.”

Marcus Aurelius, Meditations.

It doesn’t have to be New Year to think about the changes you want to make in your life. on 4 August 2022, I turn 56 years old: another ‘new year’ begins, along with the customary plans, formed with good intent, of wanting to get healthy, exercise more, read more and be more sociable. Unlike previous years, what I notice in my older age and wisdom is how momentum in one area transfers its positive energy into other areas. If I can commit to putting the effort into one area and get things moving, I’m confident that change will occur in other parts of my life too.
