Time to think…about when ignorance is bliss

“If you wish to improve, be content to appear clueless or stupid in extraneous matters – don’t wish to seem knowledgeable. And if some regard you as important, distrust yourself.”
Epictetus, Enchiridion

I don’t mean it’s a good thing to be willingly ignorant – to choose not to learn. Keeping an open mind means that you accept that you don’t know everything there is to know, and that you are willing to be educated and informed a little bit more.

Show humility, and avoid the ego-inflating title of ‘expert’ or ‘guru’ being thrust upon you. Be gracious, and accept that you probably don’t yet know yourself fully either – and likely never will!
